This shakuhachi probably dating before WWII is signed SEIHO with 3 Hanko; made from a nice piece of rather thick Madake bamboo with a nice curve.
This pretty fat Ji-ari was tuned between B and C (even though it’s length is of 2.0) because of its large bore. Thus I raised the overall pitch up to C by opening root end and tone-holes enhancing then the volume and the balance.
Sound colour and playability are nice; the pitch is still quite low (A=437Hz) because I preferred not to open too much which could have unbalance the acoustic.
For this reasonable price, it is a good shakuhachi for beginners.
