1.8 Kinko ji-ari shakuhachi in D – from “Tamai CHIKUSEN” – Restored by Chikudo
Here is a great example of the quality of master maker Tamai CHIKUSEN, this very famous maker was the master of most of the top makers of today.
Thus I was honoured to give back its voice to such a beautiful instrument. Indeed, it was very badly damaged by a split when I received it and I’m again proud to be able to close such bad cracks without any glue.
A shakuhachi of this kind deserved traditional rattan bindings (11 in total…a long job !) and is now completely secured. Of course, I had to fill the gaps and re-lacquer the bore as it was damaged by the crack.

This ji-ari shakuhachi is powerfull, bright, accurate with a great response and nice chikuin.
A very nice professional level shakuhachi adaptable to whatever style you play.
This shakuhachi has been evaluated by Christophe Kazan Gaston, master Shihan from Shin Tozan Ryu school.
