Ji-ari shakuhachi 1.9 7 trous in C# Made by “Chikuzan” – Restored by Chikudo
[EDIT] I’m selling again this shakuhachi for the person who bought it 6 months ago after repairing a new crack appeared on the lowest part. The flute is now completely bound and guaranteed from any crack. [EDIT]This beautiful shakuhachi is the second one that I bought last year from Antonio Enzan Olias professional player from Madrid.
It’s a very nice old (around 60/70 years old) ji-ari with 7 holes (the 2 extra holes were added lately). I couldn’t find informations about its maker “Chikuzan”. “…zan” is usually a Tozan name but here it is clearly made in the kinko style (not only the utaguchi triangular inlay) :
Few ji was used and the overall bore profile is slightly wider than the modern standard giving a darker and sweeter tone though. Very well balanced and good in volume, this shakuhachi has a very flexible playing (it is notcable that it has been played a lot with all kinds of music).
I would define the general quality as semi-pro shakuhachi well suited for playing both traditional or modern music.
The bamboo is dense and thick with a beautiful patina and shaved root end.
I can fill the 2 extra holes with cork if you prefer a regular 5 holes shakuhachi; for no extra costs.
