Kinko ji-ari shakuhachi 2.0 in C – Japanese Madake (Kyushu)
I made this shakuhachi as an order of Gunnar my master who tried it and gave very good feedbacks on it but didn’t keep it for a reason I’ll explain here.
This ji-ari is great at all levels (power, tone colour, response, amplitude…) and gives a very pleasant feeling when played.
Its only default is linked to hole placement :
Holes number 1&3 being too close to a node, I couldn’t place them lower (thus bigger) which turns Tsu no Meri to be rather delicate to play on fast phrases such as in sankyoku (not disturbing at all for Honkyoku).
If it doesn’t satisfy the requirements of a master (that’s a good challenge for me, thanks Gunnar !), it certainly will satisfy those of many players.
For this reason, I sell this ji-ari in the prices of an intermediate level even though all its qualities would be considered as those of an advanced level ji-ari.
Anyway, like with any purchase of a shakuhachi with me, you will have a month trial period to taste it !
