Kinko ji-ari shakuhachi ‘mumei’ 1.8 in D – restored by chikudo
This ji-ari is powerfull in volume, rich in harmonics and has a very fluid playability. The Otsu no Ro is stable and strong after taking some time to get familiar with the flute. It’s a ‘mumei’ with no hanko signature.
This shakuhachi is ideal for an intermediate level player searching for an interseting ji-ari for a quite reasonable price.
The restoration of this shakuhachi includes :
– Complete repair of the joint and the rings made with a black&red urushi technique.
– small crack repaired in the upper part with two external bindings strengthened with urushi
– Changing of damaged kinko inlay in utaguchi
– Improving the tuning and general balance with ji in some parts of the bore
– several layers of red urushi Shu no Moto
